Attorney Dan V. Dent has been practicing law for over 47 years and serves as Of Counsel for Dumas Law Firm P.C. In 1968, Dan received his B.A. in Government from Texas Christian University. During that time, he was a member of Delta Theta Phi Fraternity. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1971, during Vietnam, and originally went to law school with the goal of becoming an FBI agent. Dan is apart of several bar associations, including Texas, Western District of Texas, Western District of Oklahoma, and Quarter Military of Fields.

After graduating from law school, Dan was in JAG Corp and served in the military from 1971 to 1975. His time served in the Army helped cultivate what type of law he would practice as an attorney.

"I care about the people and treat my clients with dignity and respect."

In addition to Dan's bar admissions, his professional associations prove that he truly cares about different associations in efforts of creating an ethical relationship between the justice system and the community. Dan is a former member of the Texas District and County Attorney Association and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He is also a charter member of the Texas District County of Attorneys and is a board member of the First Central Texas Credit Union.

In 1979, Dan was Hill County Attorney for a year. Afterward, he was District Attorney of the 66th Judicial District Court of Texas. In 2013, Dan became an Assistant of District Attorney in Hill County Texas. The following year, he served as Of Counsel for Fullbright and Winniford until 2018.

As an Of Counsel for Dumas Law Firm, Dan takes on cases that revolve around Criminal Defense and Occupational Driver's License. He has tried literally hundreds of cases and prides himself on devoting a good amount of time with his clients. One of his core strengths is that he makes sure he stays in constant communication with his clients throughout their case. He values clear communication and takes every step necessary to make sure his clients are informed of what's going on. With a collaborative approach in mind, Dan works tirelessly to ensure he's meeting his clients' goals and has a good relationship with other members of the law, including judges and prosecuting attorneys.

At the end of the day, Dan's ultimate desire is to help people overcome the odds and move forward in life without any legal problems holding them back.
